Li-ion Battery Safety | Important:

• Never try to completely discharge li-ion battery ( below 2.5V ). It will activate safety protection circuit (Over-discharge safety feature) and battery will go into "sleep" mode.
• Never use force to install (insert) li-ion battery.
• Do not short circuit. It will activate safety protection circuit (Short-Circuit / Over-Heating prevention feature) and battery will go into "sleep" mode.
• Use only high-quality battery chargers.
• Never connect (short) positive, and negative contacts (terminals) intentionally or unintentionally.
• Do not expose to high heat.
• Do not try charge battery over 4.25V (another reason to use high-quality battery charger). It will activate safety protection circuit (Overcharge)and battery will go into "sleep" mode.
• Do not charge unattended.
• Do not keep loose batteries in your pocket, purse, or anywhere together with other metal (conductive) objects.
• Always keep batteries in closed plastic battery holder.
• Do not store your li-ion batteries fully charged for an extended period of time (one month and longer).
• Store in cold (room temperature) and dry place at approximately 3.7V (storage charge).

3.7V Li-ion 14500 protected battery is not replacement for your AA 1.5V (or any Ni-Mh AA 1.2V-1.5V size) batteries. Your device (eg. flashlight user manual) should list 14500 Li-ion 
protected battery as compatible rechargeable option.

Additional useful info:

Is a 14500 battery the same as AA?

14500 battery is Li-ion (Lithium-ion) 3.7 Volts (fully charged 4.2V), while regular Ni-Mh AA battery is 1.2 Volts / 1.5 Volts.
4.2V vs. 1.5V is pretty significant difference in Voltage levels and your host device (eg. flashlight) could get damaged by using incompatible (much higher Voltage) batteries.
Don't mix, or try to use 14500 battery together with any AA size battery.

Can I use 14500 instead of AA?

14500 battery is not a replacement for regular rechargeable (or disposable) AA battery.
Always make sure (manufacturer user manual) that your device is compatible with 14500 batteries.
If 14500 battery is not listed under "compatible batteries" section in user guide - that means: your device is compatible with AA batteries only.
Device manufacturer will always specify if 14500 Rechargeable 3.7V cells are compatible (safe to use).
